Holidays
LIFE is closed on all public holidays as well as University of Copenhagen holidays:
Public holidays:
* Maundy Thursday
* Good Friday
* Easter Monday
* Common Prayer Day (fourth Friday after Easter)
* Ascension Day
* Whit Monday
* Christmas Day (25 December)
* Boxing Day (26 December)
* New Year’s day (1 January)
University of Copenhagen holidays:
* 1 May
* Danish Constitution Day (5 June)
* Christmas Eve (24 December)
* New Year’s Eve (31 December)
Even though LIFE is closed, activities such as surveillance of buildings, care of animals, emergency veterinary service etc. will still have to be carried out.
If an employee is required to work on a University of Copenhagen holiday for one of the above reasons, he or she will be given another day off instead.
25, 40 or 50 years of service anniversary as a state employee: In addition to a bonus, employees celebrating one of these anniversaries will also be given an extra day off.
Moving house: Subject to agreement with the local manager, employees who move house may be granted one day off.
Death/serious illness: In connection with death or serious illness in the immediate family, days off may be granted extraordinarily subject to agreement with the local manager.
Wedding: If an employee’s celebrates his or her own wedding, registrered partnership or 25th wedding anniversary on a weekday, the employee may take the day off subject to agreement with his or her local manager.
The local manager must be flexible when organising the work, so that an ordinary holiday may be used for other major family events etc.
Days off must always be agreed with/approved by the local manager.
Extraordinary days off in accordance with the above cannot be saved up or compensated for financially.
