Time off during working hours
Medical and dental appointments etc. Subject to agreement with your immediate superior, you can see your doctor or dentist during working hours if you are unable to schedule an appointment outside working hours. If so, the appointment must be scheduled for the beginning or end of your working hours. (A maximum of two working hours may be spent on such appointments). The right to time off for medical and dental appointments during working hours must be exercised within ‘reasonable’ limits.
Blood donation. Subject to agreement with your immediate superior, you may donate blood during working hours if you are unable to schedule an appointment outside working hours. As is the case for medical and dental appointments, a maximum of two hours must be spent on this, and to the extent possible blood donation appointments should be scheduled for the beginning or end of your working hours.
Unpaid time off in connection with public duties must be agreed with your immediate superior and reported to HR.
The faculty grants paid time off for civic duties (e.g. lay assessor, jury member or polling official at municipal or general elections) where the employee does not participate in the selection. Absence in connection with the above is subject to agreement with your immediate superior. If you have any questions, please contact HR.
