University of Copenhagen facing difficult decisions on administrative cuts
The Danish Government has ordered University of Copenhagen (KU) and the seven other Danish universities to cut administrative costs. Plans on how to achieve the budget cuts must be sent to the Ministry no later than 1 September.
For KU employees, budget cuts and job dismissals have been the unfortunate reality during the last several years, and the upcoming years will be no different. This time around the administrative employees will be targeted the most.
The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation has notified KU that the University must cut down expenses by DKK 40 million in 2012, an additional DKK 40 million in 2013 and also in the further years ahead (when compared to the 2009 budget).
