Fond farewell to dean Per Holten-Andersen

The band played, drinks and canapés were lined up at long buffet tables, and staff, students and colleagues from University of Copenhagen, including Rector Ralph Hemmingsen and chairman of the University Board, Niels Strandberg Pedersen, held speeches for Per Holten Andersen at the farewell event for LIFE’s dean on 8 December.

Per Holten-Andersen and LIFE (and before that the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University) go back a long way. Per Holten-Andersen graduated from the then Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University (MSc in forestry) and went on to become an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Economy, Forest and Landscape at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University. In 2002, he became rector of

the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, and – after the merger with University of Copenhagen- he became Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences in 2007.

It was therefore a fond farewell to a person who has been a very popular and very visible at LIFE for many years and there were many speeches. Frederikke Lindenberg, representing the students, held an emotional speech, and at the end she presented Per Holten-Andersen with a new red sweater, his ‘trademark’, which she hoped that he would use in his future job as Rector at Copenhagen Business School.

The speeches, which were all in Danish, can be read in the corresponding article at the Danish eLIFE site.
