Often asked questions and answers

On this page you will find the most often asked questions and answers which are relevant to you as a student at LIFE.

Maxium time of study

How much time do I have to finish my MA?

Students who are registered on a masters education in September 2001 or later on must complete their masters programme within 4 years maxium after the registration date. There are certain rules for the veterinary students.

To be sure which rules apply to you, it is important that you read the curriculum which applies to you specifically.

Guidance session offer

I have received a letter from the Study and Students' Affairs about a guidance session offer at Student Services. What happens if I do not come to the session?

The session is not binding and therefore you will not be held accountable for not showing up. On the other hand, the offer is a very good opportunity for you to speak with a guidance advisor about your delay, become more aware of your own situation and what opportunities you have as a student to seek more help or support.

Who receives the guidance session offer?

All students who are delayed by 60 ECTS-points or more compared to the prescribed time of studying.

Exams

What is an oral exam and how do I prepare for it?

An oral exam is when you are orally examined in the curriculum concerning the given class. This can be in the form of a defence of a report which you have written, individually or in groups. Other times you will draw a question and have a preparation time of close to 30 min. Then, you will go and present your question infront of the examinator. In oral exams, there will be a dialogue between student and examinator where you discuss the curriculum in terms of your report or the question which you drew. Most of the time, you will be examined in all of the curriculum so a good way to be prepared is to have read all of the curriculum. Ask your professor what is expected of you in the given oral exam.

If you have any other questions, you are always welcome to stop by Student Services and talk to a guidance consellor.
