Problems with your master’s thesis? Maybe an MSc thesis support group could help you.
Have you started working on your master’s thesis and have you experienced problems in relation to:
- Defining the main problem or focus of your thesis in such a way that you can use it to structure your work
- Starting the process of writing
- Dropping all the excuses for not working on your thesis
- Finding someone with whom you can share your problems
- Structuring your day now that you – in principle – could be working on your thesis all the time
- Writer’s block or the feeling that what you write is not good enough
- Finding the right balance between reading and writing; maybe you read too much and write too little.
Do you recognize some of these problems? A MSc thesis support group could help you get back on track. The group will consist of max. 10 students.
When?
We start a new MSc thesis support group April 7, 2011, at 3 pm. Subsequently, the group will meet regularly the following months.
What and how?
Anders Dahl and Vagn Olsen from the Institute of Food and Resource Economics will facilitate the group meetings and provide guidance and good advice. They have great experience working with students who run into various types of problems related to their thesis.
You will have great influence on the contents of the meetings. Themes you could deal with include: how to define the main problem or focus of your thesis, how to structure your thesis, and how to use your supervisor most efficiently. However, it is up to you and the rest of the group to decide which themes are most relevant to you.
Between the meetings with Anders and Vagn, you and the other group members can use each other for support and guidance, maybe in smaller groups. Anders and Vagn will contribute with ideas on how to give constructive feedback to each other.
Registration
Registration is required in order to participate in the MSc thesis support group. Deadline for registration was Thursday 31 March.
