Checklist
Going abroad to study involves a number of practicalities which must be taken care of. The checklist below may be useful for you before, during and after your stay abroad.
Before going abroad
Information meetings – At this meeting you will be given important information about applying for admission to the host university, insurance, residence permits etc. It is also a chance to meet other students from the Faculty of Life Sciences and possibly the University of Copenhagen who have been studying abroad. Close to departure you will also be invited to a meeting that will focus on preparing you for your studies abroad.
Email – All communication from the Secretariat for Internationalisation is sent to your dsr mail address, so if you use another email address, please remember to set your dsr mail for automatic forwarding. If you are nominated to one of the University of Copenhagen partners, you should also make sure to check you KU account, as correspondence will be sent to that one.
Visa and residence permits – Find out whether you need a visa or a residence permit to study in the country of your choice.
Insurance – check that you have the necessary travel insurance for while you are away. It should cover, both theft and health. LIFE strongly recommend that you take out a travel insurance and recommend Studenterforsikring.dk
Apply for grants!
There are lots of private funds out there, so if you need addition money for your stay abroad, try to apply for additional funding.
Accommodation – If you want to sublet your accommodation, you are welcome to contact the Faculty of Life Sciences housing coordinator . Students studying at a partner university will get help to find a place abroad in most cases. You can read more about how to find accomodation abroad under "Housing".
