Health and insurance
The Danish National Health Service
When living in Denmark, you are covered by the Danish National Health Service. This means that visits to the doctor and hospitalisation is free. Dental work and eye doctors is partially subsidised, meaning that you have to pay part of the fee yourself.
Procedures vary depending on where you come from:
| Students from countries outside the European Union |
You are covered by the Danish National Health Service after a period of 6 weeks counting from the day you have registered with the municipality.
This means that you are not covered for the first 6 weeks of your stay, and therfore it is important that you have private medical insurance covering the first 6 weeks of your stay.

Liability, accident and theft
It is recommended that international students take out liability insurance as well as insurance against accidents and theft. it is especially recommended that you check the coverage in case of accidents during practical exercises and other activities related to your studies.
